Connect with others who are facing the same challenges without having to leave town. These programs are free for all patients and community members.
Bereavement Support Group
Support is important when you are grieving the loss of a loved one. This monthly support group meets to share the thoughts and feelings you may be experiencing after losing someone to cancer. Caregiver Support Group
There are many challenges that one can face when acting as a caregiver for a loved one. During this one-hour monthly meeting, you will meet other caregivers and share the experiences and challenges that comes with this responsibility. Healthy Cooking with Chef Monteleone
Do you like to cook? Come learn some new healthy recipes to add to your collection. This one-hour cooking demonstration is taught by Chef Brett Monteleone from Juniors on Harrison. During the class Chef Brett will teach two recipes and participants will be able to take home samples. This class is 100% free and open to anyone who would like to attend. Living with Cancer Group
This support group is especially for those living with cancer and their caregivers.
Look Good, Feel Better
Funded in part by the American Cancer Society, this program provides beauty techniques for women undergoing cancer treatment to help them face their diagnosis with greater confidence. Each participant receives a light lunch and a free makeup kit to use during and after the workshop.
Lymphedema Screenings
Find out if you’re at risk for lymphedema, a medical condition that can result from surgery or radiation.
Melanoma Spot Checks
Get a free melanoma/skin cancer screening (spot check only) from a dermatologist. This screening is a community service of the SMH Cancer Program.
Mindful Meditation
These one-hour mindfulness sessions serve as an introduction to meditation for those new to the practice and provide support to those who currently practice meditation.
Women Warriors Workshop: A Cancer Support Group
Whether you’re undergoing treatment or are in recovery, this workshop allows you to connect with other women who are coping with cancer. Patients, survivors and caregivers are welcome to come craft with us. Supplies are provided! Classes are conducted in a relaxed setting to help promote discussion, camaraderie and fun!
Yoga for Cancer Patients and Caregivers
Staying active during cancer treatment can improve your sense of well-being. This class is specifically designed for cancer patients and their caregivers.
