SMH Foundation Awards Grant for Hospital Transportation Chairs
The SMH Foundation awarded a grant to Slidell Memorial Hospital for 12 Staxi transportation chairs to help patients and visitors more easily get to their destinations within the hospital.
The SMH Safety Council identified a need for safe, easy and convenient wheelchair transportation. Staxi transportation chairs are designed to move occupants safely throughout the hospital. These chairs have a 600-pound weight capacity, fail-safe braking system, side entry and exit, and seatbelts to keep occupants secure. Staxi chairs are located by two main entrances of the hospital: the SMH Heart Center and the SMH Medical Office Building. The Safety Council’s goal is to add additional Staxi chairs to other SMH facilities in the future.
