Breast Cancer Awareness Month Activities at SMH Regional Cancer Center

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we have several activities lined up to celebrate.

Women's Health Alliance BCA Seminar

On Tuesday, October 28, our SMH Women’s Health Alliance is hosting its [Fall Breast Cancer Awareness seminar]. Attendees will enjoy health screenings provided by SMH, listen to a panel of experts in the field of cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery, savor a healthy lunch, view a fashion show and enter to win a selection of premium items in the Parade of Prizes.

It promises to be a fun day. Tickets are $35 per seat and may be purchased at the SMH Gift Shop, Northshore Harbor Center, East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce, or online.

Breast Cancer Awareness Day

October 15 is Breast Cancer Awareness Day and Slidell Memorial Hospital Regional Cancer Center (SMHRCC) has invited staff and staff and breast cancer patients and survivors to join us in an activity where we will tint the fountain located in front of the cancer center pink. Everyone will get some dye to throw into the fountain all at once. (It should make a big "splash!")

The fountain will remain pink for the remainder of the month. We're also giving every staff member of the hospital pink breast cancer awareness bracelets, providing breast health education, punch and pink ribbon cookies. It will be a lot of fun.

Fundraising for SMHRCC

The SMH Foundation is working with a number of businesses in the community on a campaign to raise funds to benefit local cancer patients at the cancer center.

Businesses involved in the effort include: Texas Road House, SILPADA Jewelry, Honda of Slidell, Thirty One bag consultant Tricia Rodriguez, the Hot Rod Heaven Car & Truck Show in Picayune, and Women’s Council of Realtors Bras for a Cause event.
