Visiting a Loved One

Visiting Hours

Visitors can be good medicine for patients. Family members and friends are welcome to visit, unless otherwise ordered by your physician. In order to enhance patient care, specific visiting hours and regulations have been established for each unit.

General visitation: 7:30 a.m. 8:30 p.m.

Visiting times for Medical Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit/Cardiac Intensive Care Unit:
 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
 8 - 10 p.m.

Visiting Guidelines

  • Visitors must dress appropriately and must wear shirts and shoes.
  • No more than two visitors are allowed at the bedside at one time.
  • Visitors in semi-private rooms should be considerate of both patients.
  • People with colds, sore throats or any contagious diseases should not visit patients.
  • Visits should be kept short.
  • Visitors should maintain a quiet environment and avoid unnecessary noise.
  • Visitors may be asked to leave the room during tests or treatments or when the doctor or nurse needs to see the patient.
  • Hospice patients can have visitors anytime.
  • For visiting ICU patients, limit visitors to only two people at one time. No visitors under the age of 12.

Gifts for Patients

Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food or drink to patients to make sure your gift is appropriate. On the Intensive Care Unit, please check with the nurse regarding any gifts for patients.

Waiting Areas

These are specially designed lounge areas for visitors on each patient floor and on the main floor in the lobby. Specific waiting areas have been designated for families of patients in the Critical Care Units, the Emergency Department and Surgery. During certain hours, a hostess is on duty in the Surgery Waiting Room to keep family members informed about the progress of surgery.


The Chapel is located on the first floor near the atrium. Visitors of all faiths are welcome to visit the Chapel for worship services, prayer and meditation.
