Viola Cocran, 90, who volunteered at Slidell Memorial Hospital since its inception, passed away on September 29, 2013. A memorial service was held at the Slidell Methodist Church in Olde Town (3rd Street and Erlanger) on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m. In remembrance, in lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to the SMH foundation.

Cocran started her
journey with SMH in the early 1950s. She served on the steering committee that

leaders when SMH broke ground.

this community has come to trust,” said SMH Chief Executive Officer Bill Davis.
Cocran has held
many different volunteer positions during her career at SMH. She has volunteered in Administration,
Information Technology Services, Patient Relations, Medical Staffing and
Volunteer Services. Many days, Cocran was
the first person in the office and the last to leave for the day. She
demonstrated her commitment and personal belief in SMH’s mission to improve the
quality of life in this community by volunteering Monday through Friday
throughout her entire career. And this
dedication never wavered.
