(Mar. 18, 2011 Slidell, LA) At its recent meeting, the Slidell Memorial Hospital Board of Commissioners selected Larry Englande as Board Chairman for 2011.
Englande, who has served as a representative for residents of Ward 8 since 2003, is a Senior Vice President of George K. Baum & Company of New Orleans. He previously served as Board Chairman in 2006 and in 2007.
Board officers are elected annually. Daniel McGovern IV, who served as Chairman in 2010 and represents Ward 9, was selected to serve as Vice Chairman for 2011. Walter J. "Dub Lane, representing Ward 8, was selected as the Secretary/Treasurer.
"It is an honor to be able to serve as Chairman of Slidell Memorial Hospital for the year 2011. The Board of Commissioners will continue to improve your hospital with superior quality, equipment and outcomes while keeping your hospital in a strong financial position, Englande said. "We will continue to keep our promises with the recent opening of your Regional Cancer Center and with your help a new emergency room and new private beds in the near future.
Joining the officers on the Board are members: Clinton Sharp, M.D., the Medical Staff Representative; Dan Ferrari, representing Ward 7; Thomas Hall, M.D., representing Ward 8; David G. Mannella, representing Ward 8; Janine S. Parker, M.D., the Medical Staff President; and, John Rosche, representing Ward 6.
St. Tammany Parish Hospital Service District No. 2 (Slidell Memorial Hospital) is governed by a nine-member Board of Commissioners. Seven members are appointed by an appointing authority (comprised of a local legislative delegation) from nominating committee recommendations. The remaining two members are the President of the Medical Staff and one Medical Staff appointee. Each board member brings a unique background of expertise and experience that is invaluable in guiding Slidell Memorial Hospital. The Board of Commissioners is responsible for the quality of the medical care provided at the hospital.
