Join the Fight
Meet two local cancer survivors who were featured as models in Faith, Hope & Fashion! All proceeds from the event benefited the SMH Regional Cancer Center, funding care packages for chemotherapy patients during treatment.

Roshell Claiborne

Roshell is 49 years old and was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in October 2013. Through a hard fight and chemotherapy complications, Roshell came out cancer-free one year later! She says she couldn’t have done it without her family and her strong faith in God. Roshell believes the fight is all in the attitude you have when you’re diagnosed. "Be okay with the diagnosis, but don’t let it take you. This too shall pass… Have a zeal to fight!”

Bill Kahrs

Bill is 69 years old and has beaten cancer several times over the past 23 years. He’s defeated stage four colon cancer, a benign brain tumor, stage two prostate cancer, and kidney cancer. Throughout all of these fights and other "bumps in the road”, Bill has been blessed with 3 daughters, 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren! He remains a positive person who is always ready with a smile and a guardian angel pin when he volunteers at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He knows that receiving the news can be a hard pill to swallow, but Bill believes "the most powerful thing to fight cancer is being around positive people.”
